One-on-One in The Loch Lomond & The Trossachs — A Private Day in Scotland’s First National Park
Brand: Journeys with Phil Crowder
Audience: Guests, couples & private parties
Format: Private car-based journey with gentle photography woven in
Group Size: 1–2 guests preferred (partner welcome) • max 3
Timing: 9:00am pickup → 6:00pm guaranteed return
Step off the world and into Scotland’s first and most beloved National Park — a place of shimmering lochs, ancient woodland, winding glens and rolling Highland views.
This flagship day is designed especially for guests who appreciate a slower pace, meaningful moments, and scenery that reveals itself gently throughout the day. With comfort, photography, and personal attention at the heart of the experience, it’s the perfect introduction to the Scotland you’ve imagined.
Your Day, Beautifully Crafted
A warm 9:00am collection from your Cruise Ship or Hotel you travel north to the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, where calm morning light sets the tone for the day.
A short, relaxed photography session is woven in — no pressure, no technical complexity — just simple guidance to help you capture the beauty around you.
From there, we drift into The Trossachs, known as “The Highlands in miniature”:
• Quiet shores of Loch Ard
• The iconic sweep of the Duke’s Pass
• The timeless beauty of Loch Katrine
• A gentle stop in Callander
• And of course… a chance to meet the Highland Cows (Americans absolutely adore them — and they never disappoint!)
If timings allow, you have the optional addition of Doune Castle — famous from Outlander, Monty Python, and Game of Thrones.
Designed for Comfort, Enjoyment & Peace of Mind
• No rushing. No big bus crowds. No hassle.
• Every road chosen to avoid return-journey traffic risks (as best I can!)
• Every stop accessible, scenic, and relaxed.
• Guaranteed return to your ship or hotel by 6:00pm.
A Fusion of Exploration & Personal Photography
This is not a photography workshop — it’s a gentle invitation to pick up your camera or phone and enjoy capturing Scotland with a little guidance from a professional.
If you prefer not to take photos, don’t worry — Phil quietly photographs moments from the day so you still take home a small, meaningful visual record.
Memories that stay with you. Photos that take you right back.

Why One-on-One Works So Well
A private tuition day offers unmatched flexibility and depth.
You might want to:
• Develop a stronger sense of composition and visual storytelling
• Move confidently beyond auto mode and understand manual control
• Learn how and when to use filters effectively
• Understand light, mood, and timing
• Explore new genres or refine existing ones
• Improve your confidence and creative direction
Everything is shaped around you — your camera, your pace, and your ambitions.
This is not about chasing perfection. It’s about building understanding, confidence, and a photographic voice that feels genuinely your own.
Flexibility & Shared Experiences
While the tuition is focused on you, partners or companions are very welcome to join the day. Some guests learn together; others simply enjoy being part of the journey.
It can be planned well in advance — or decided on the spur of the moment.

In Summary: Choosing Focus Over Overload
Landscape photography is wonderfully diverse — and that’s exactly why trying to cover everything in a single day rarely leads to meaningful progress.
Instead, I recommend selecting two or three genres to focus on during your session. This allows us to go deeper, practice properly, and leave you with skills you can confidently apply again and again.
Possible focus areas include:
• Sunrise & Sunset
Capturing the fleeting magic of dawn and dusk
• Woodland Photography
Working with texture, atmosphere, and filtered light
• Long Exposure
Using time creatively to introduce mood and movement
• Wide-Angle Landscapes
Creating depth and scale that draws viewers into the scene
• Close-up & Macro
Discovering beauty in overlooked details
• Intentional Camera Movement (ICM)
A more expressive, painterly approach to landscape work
You choose the direction. I help you understand the why and the how.
You won’t become an expert in every genre — but you’ll gain clarity, confidence, and a solid foundation to continue exploring long after the day ends.
You Will Experience
• Setting up and using your camera to unlock its full potential
• Choosing and using tripods effectively for stability and creativity
• Understanding lens choice and how it shapes your images
• Building stronger compositions that tell a story
• Practical, real-world use of filters
• Using apps for weather, ephemeris, tides, and even aurora forecasting — so you can plan with confidence
This immersive, pragmatic experience is designed to demystify landscape photography, deepen your technical understanding, and encourage creative growth — all within a relaxed, supportive environment.
