You have choices to make (not right now, but before the day) there’s to much to see & do for just one day unfortunately.

2nd stop - Coos!

3rd stop - Burnham a short easy walk to see a Mighty Oak of Macbeth fame

4th Stop - House of Bruar, a chance for some lunch and a little gift hunting

5th Stop - Blair Castle

6th Stop - The Hermitage

Route

1st Stop - Lindores Abbey Distillery or Scone Palace

Here we go… Lindores or Scone? Both are dry weather options and both have some interesting outdoors to see.

Completely different days out, but both have incredible reasons to go!.

Lindores Abbey Distillery

A fantastic modern facility mixed with great whisky and history, what’s not to like?

Tours need to be reserved in advance - Lindores Abbey Distillery

After a break of 523 years, spirit is once again flowing from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey Distillery.

Lindores Abbey has widely recognised links to the earliest written reference to Scotch Whisky and learning as much as we can from the great Scottish distillers around us, past and present, we are bringing a very modern whisky-making approach to this ancient site.

1st Stop Alternative - Scone Palace

Scone is absolutely steeped in history and there's a lot to do, from the initial tour of the palace itself to Moot Hill, views over the Tay, the pinetum, woodland walks, the impressive Douglas Firs, the star-shaped maze and the peacocks, particularly the white ones (if you're lucky you may find a feather or two).

You are not allowed to photograph inside the Palace for understandable security reasons, hence we have no internal pics to show, but you will see some on the website.

Tickets should be booked in advance - Scone Palace Tickets Reservations

2nd Stop - Hairy Coos!

Everyone seems to love the Hairy Coos!

A nice photo stop and a wee chance to shop if you wish to. We can stay here for 30mins.

3rd Stop - The Magnificent Burnham Oak

The Birnam Oak and its neighbour, the Birnam Sycamore, are thought to be the sole surviving trees of Birnam Wood, the huge forest that once straddled the banks of the River Tay and was made famous by Shakespeare.

While it’s unlikely that the Oak was around in the time of Macbeth, set in the 11th century, a plaque by the tree says it’s a living relic of the medieval forest. The Oak’s exact age is not known but as its girth is around seven metres, it’s likely to be at least 600 years old so was almost certainly mature when Shakespeare is said to have visited Perthshire in 1589. The Oak’s lower branches rest on wooden supports and its trunk is hollow. At some time in the past there has clearly been a fire inside the trunk but the tree appears to be thriving.

4th Stop - House of Bruar

As the ‘Home of Country Clothing’ they only work with the best brands that support the ethos of contemporary style and superior quality.

And the foods not bad either! From Sandwiches and Soups to super Main courses and build your own Salads with Salmon, Beef and Ham on offer.

5th Stop - Blair Castle

Blair Castle, located in Blair Atholl near Pitlochry, Scotland, is the ancestral home of the Atholl family for over seven centuries. It's a historic landmark known for its diverse history, beautiful gardens and grounds, and association with Queen Victoria.

Blair Castle is also renowned for being the last private army in Europe, the Atholl Highlanders.

Ticket Office - Blair Castle & Gardens

6th Stop - The Hermitage

An enchanting forest, magical waterfalls and breathtaking views all make a visit here spectacular – but the Hermitage is also teeming with wildlife all year...

As a photographer it’s at its best during Autumn, October is always special.

What a great way to end the day!
