Overview
A memorable one day private tour to the ‘Kingdom of Fife’, marvel at the engineering feat of the Forth road and rail bridges, visit the renaissance Falkland Palace and village, explore the medieval town of St Andrews, home to Golf, and take in the beauty of Pittenweem, a once bustling fishing village.
This is a full day tour (approx 9hrs)
Itinerary
Falkland Palace
Less than an hour away is Falkland palace and gardens. King James IV commissioned it and King James V added a tennis court, which is now one of the oldest surviving tennis courts in the world. Mary Queen of Scots loved the palace and was a frequent resident. The Castle itself is full of antique and ancient works of art and furnishings of that period. Falkland village was used by the hit TV series Outlander, as 1940's Inverness for Frank and Claire’s honeymoon trip.
St Andrews
Famous for its Golf course, University, Cathedral and medieval town.
It is a beautiful place to visit, and remember, Prince William went to St Andrews University!
Crail
Crail combines historical significance with natural beauty, making it a perfect example of the charming East Neuk fishing villages that have become popular with visitors seeking an authentic Scottish coastal experience
Pittenweem
Following the coast line, we drive through the picturesque fishing villages, stopping at the charming village of Pittenweem. We will visit St Fillan's cave, he was an Irish missionary who spent most of his life here in the mid 7thCentury.
South Queensferry Village
A 30 min drive beyond Edinburgh. We will stop here to view the 3 bridges spanning the Forth River, built between 1890 and 2017.
The Kelpies
It would be rude to drive past the Kelpies when your passing.
The Kelpies are magnificent 30-meter-high horse-head sculptures located in Falkirk. They're among Scotland's most impressive modern landmarks and have become iconic since their unveiling in 2013.
The Kelpies have quickly become one of Scotland's most photographed attractions and a symbol of modern Scottish culture and engineering excellence.
Return to Hotel approx 6pm
