The Trossachs & Beyond!

Overview

Arguably Scotlands Best kept Secret - The Trossachs and its on your doorstep!.

This has the potential to be a 3hr tour or an extended 6hr tour… the choice is yours. It can be a tour of The Trossachs (3hrs) or we can go further and include Stirling Castle and The Kelpies (6hrs).

Itinerary

1st Stop Loch Ard

Magnificent Loch Ard, and its reasonably close to visit.

It’s photogenic, often calm but always beautiful… whatever the weather!

Ben Lomond stands proud at the West end and unless its wearing its hat (clouds), it is unmistakable.

2nd Stop The Lodge

The Lodge on the Dukes Pass… a short walk takes you down to the Little Fawn Waterfall and just beyond there is a wildlife hide should you wish to visit. Red Squirrels are in abundance.

It can be a little strenuous coming back up the hill.

From here we will head over the Pass to Loch Katrine.

3rd Stop Loch Katrine

Loch Katrine is also stunning and has lots to offer, we won’t be doing a boat trip today but there are a couple of great walks.. it’s got incredible history, Glasgows Water Supply, Sir Walter Scott even William Wordsworth gets a mention and lets not forget Rob Roy McGregor

The first walk is up to a new view point, it’s a lot of steps but a great view awaits.

The second walk is a more gentle stroll around the the East end of the loch, you must return the same way or you can simply head into the cafe and get a tea or coffee etc…

4th Stop - Hairy Coos! and Callander

Everyone seems to love the Hairy Coos!

A nice photo stop and a wee chance to shop if you wish to. We can stay here for 30mins. From here it’s back to drop you off unless you are doing the extended tour

The extended 6hr tour continues from here

5th Stop - Drive By Doune Castle

Currently of Outlander fame it’s Castle Leoch in the series and features right from the beginning.

It’s also been in Monty Python & The Holy Grail and it was Winterfell to the Stark family in Game of Thrones

This is a photo opportunity, see if you can better my image with its Saltire and fancy paving!

6th Stop - Stirling or Stirling Castle

Heading to the historical city of Stirling, you will have the option to explore this historical city bustling with independent shops, restaurants and cafes.

The alternative is to opt to visit either Stirling Castle or the Wallace Monument. Both have an admission charge that is not included in the tour and pre-booking is essential for a midday tour 90 min stop.

7th Stop - The Kelpies

It would be rude to drive past the Kelpies when your passing.

The Kelpies are magnificent 30-meter-high horse-head sculptures located in Falkirk. They're among Scotland's most impressive modern landmarks and have become iconic since their unveiling in 2013.

The Kelpies have quickly become one of Scotland's most photographed attractions and a symbol of modern Scottish culture and engineering excellence. From here it’s time to return.
